Host your website from home on a linux server laptop

Nowadays, the internet connections at home are getting faster and faster, and often you have much more bandwidth available than you need. So if you do want to start your own website, why not save the monthly recurring costs of shared hosting of a VPS and set up your own web server at home. Of course there are still a few things to keep in mind, but if a few conditions are met, it is quite possible to run a web server at home.

When we are talking about a web server, many people immediately think of a huge power-devouring device with a lot of blinking LEDs that buzzing, beeping and blowing occupies a dominant place in the house. However, this is by no means the case. It is quite possible to run a complete server on an old laptop that may have been collecting dust for years, or that you can buy cheap second-hand. Most laptops, even if they are a few years old, are quite capable of running a web server, use little power and are usually quiet.

I will further explain here step by step how you can use an old laptop as a web server where you can host multiple websites and domains.
